 In the heart of Fort Lauderdale, visitors and residents alike will find an array of incredible restaurants, each with its own distinct personality and flavor.
The "15th Street Fisheries" provides the best possible waterfront dining options. One of the most popular restaurants, the 15th Street Fisheries established 25 years ago has been serving seafood with a view, the view sometimes including night's fish being unloaded from boats on the dock. There is no denying the freshness of much of the fish fare at 15th Street Fisheries. In addition, you can enjoy the convenience of the water taxi that tie up frequently for a quick bite. Most of the seats in the restaurant have a great view of the busy marinas in the area, with the best seats on a porch like expanse with open windows.
 One of the most attractive features of this restaurant is that appetizers will be redundant. The recipes at this restaurant that is worth ordering are Kangaroo main course, New Zealand lobster tails, and Stone Crabs. One of the best appetizers on the list is also the least expensive, a good smoked fish dip with crisp bits of flatbread for dipping. It is a bit heavy on the mayonnaise for some, but the mild flavors and texture are worth appreciating. Every main course comes with soup, mild conch chowder, and a not so favorable bean soup, a small salad, and as much freshly baked bread, as you want. Crisply fried alligator tail is very tasty and it is priced at $15.95 for an appetizer portion. Kangaroo tenderloin ($13.95) has replaced the ostrich that once served as the menu's most unusual selection. While it is lean and flavorful, some still miss the ostrich dish.
A shrimp cocktail seems reasonable at $8, though the five shrimp included the night I tried it were limp and bland The staff is cooperative and they value customer service. Timing is a serious consideration especially in serving fish and stone crabs. Stone crabs are one of the more dependable items on the menu. Another attractive feature of this restaurant is a big bar that also provides "Happy Hour" to attract young couples. Whether the purpose is of dating or a nice family environment or organizing special events, 15th Street Fisheries provides the best ambience.
